Spellschools

Intellect is the main stat for Jala and Riija. It affects softcaps, starting values and improving with spells out of this schools.


Learning Capacity

An adventurer with 1 Intellect can learn level 5 in two schools (5/5).

Each 5 points of Intellect adds 1 more possible level of spells.

An adventurer with 50 Intellect can learn level 6 in three schools and level 4 in a fourth (6/6/6/4).

These levels are transferable, and level 1 in spell schools do not technically count. For example, a player with 50 Intellect, instead of 6/6/6/4, could go 6/6/5/4/2. He took one less level in one school, and took level 2 in a fifth school. The effect continues - 6/6/5/4/2 could be changed to 6/5/5/4/2/2, and so on - but the most powerful spells tend to be high up in a school, so grabbing a bunch of low-level utility spells is rarely a good idea.


Basic archetype examples:

10 Intellect for a pure fighter who goes 6 Weaponcraft / 6 Kraanan

20 Intellect for a hybrid fighter who goes 5 Weaponcraft / 5 Kraanan / 5 Qor

35 Intellect for a fighter mage who goes 5 Weaponcraft / 5 Kraanan / 5 Qor / 4 Riija

50 Intellect for a pure mage who goes 5 Faren / 5 Kraanan / 5 Shal'ille / 6 Jala / 2 Weaponcraft*

(*Many mages spare 5 Intellect for 2 Weaponcraft, which comes with block and dodge, very important defensive skills)

level 1 is 2 points, level 2 is 2 points, and level 3, 4, 5, and 6 are 4 points where 5 int = 4 points for whatever reason but you can't skip level one, if you start a toon with just a level 2 skill, it still counts as 2 + 2 = 4

Defense against Illusions

Each 10 points of Intellect an adventurer has will reduce illusionary damage taken by 1, for a reduction of up to 7 points at 70 Intellect. This is the only known method for reducing illusionary damage, which ignores all armor and resistances. Intellect bonuses are hard to find, though, so most adventurers will never reach above 60 Intellect.


Spell Damage Effects

Together with Mysticism, Intellect boosts the damage of splash spells and bolt spells. For these spells, Intellect and Mysticism are added together, then halved. Therefore, only the best mages can take full advantage of stat-based damage bonuses. This damage is an additional percentage of base damage.

Intellect alone boosts the damage of illusionary damage in the same way that Might boosts the damage of melee attacks. This damage is an additional percentage of base damage.

The bonus is 1% per 1 point of Intellect, within a certain range of the stat.

The percentage bonus begins at 25 Intellect, and ends at 65 Intellect. Examples:
